If you are interested in working with me as a teacher:

I lead workshops, courses, and talks on a variety of topics about writing and publishing, including:

The Four Elements of Creativity
Plotting
Voice & Tone
Showing & Telling & Storytelling: Narrating
Character & Setting
Prose & Literary Style
Crafting Space & Time: Advanced Literary Techniques
Revising & Self-Editing
Reading As A Writer
Writing A Novel
Writing Short Stories
Flash Fiction
Writing Memoirs
Genres: Literary Fiction, Historical Fiction, Fantasy, Speculative Fiction, Horror, Science Fiction
Finding An Agent
Publishing For Writers

I can tailor classes for, e.g., hour-long-seminars, afternoon- or day-long masterclasses, or ongoing workshops. I also hope to offer specific courses online in the near future, as well as a more structured programme of mentoring.

If you are interested in working with me individually or, e.g., inviting me to speak at your writing group, send me an email with details of what you are looking for.

Masterclasses
I also regularly lead masterclasses and book doctor with Kellie Jackson of Words Away. Forthcoming classes include:

* Saturday 30 March 2019: Crafting Your Prose: A Masterclass on Literary Style, plus Q&A with industry speaker Sarah Shrubb of Hachette Audio. More info below.

* Saturday 11 May 2019: Density and Speed: Crafting Space and Time in Writing, plus Q&A with book PR Alison Menzies. More info below.

* Saturday 15 June 2019: The Craft of Revising: A Masterclass on Self-editing for Writers, plus Q&A with editor Faiza Khan of Bloomsbury Publishing. More info below.

These one-day classes are held at London Bridge Hive, 1 Melior Place, London SE1 3SZ.

I have plans for further workshops and masterclasses in the near future, and in 2019/2020 hope to repeat this suite of six masterclasses, which are designed to use intuitive approaches to the craft topics that might be covered in an MA or MFA in creative writing (Plotting; Voice; Character and Setting; Literary Style; Space and Time; Revising). The idea: helping writing to build their own programme of studies.
