A Zoom Masterclass

Weaving our material into stories
What drives a great plot? In this masterclass we’ll discuss both fictional characters and players in real-life dramas as plotters whose yearnings and encounters raise the stakes of our stories. We’ll examine the role of conflict and change, and consider how story types and conventions can help shape our narratives in both fiction and nonfiction. We’ll also look at plotting as an active process in our drafting.
* Each masterclass will run on Zoom, with discussion on this month’s topics, plus a writing exercise and Q&A.
* A week before the class, you’ll be emailed optional homework: brief preparatory readings as well as writing exercises.
* After each class, you’ll also be emailed a unit workbook with notes on craft as well as writing experiments, reading recommendations and further resources.
* Classes will be live. Recordings will not be available.
